Display problems: What problems can be accepted?
There are two kinds of display problems:
Those that affect the layout of your site and those that affect the accessibility of your site. Problems of the latter are inexcusable, even for sites that have to work in NN4!
A site should be accessible to all your visitors!
The question now becomes:
How much do i care for the correct (or visually appealing) display in NN4 today? CSS offers many opportunities for the visual layout of your site. The design of your site is only secondary though. Your site should be visible without CSS or Javascript support, too. If you ensured that, you are ok. And NN4 is rapidly dying out.
Do not waste too much time with NN4.
In doubt, correct markup is more important than looking good in older browsers.
The most important rule:
Web sites are made for humans, not browsers.
